The Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Ogun State chapter, has appealed to President Umaru Yar’ Adua to direct the office of the Head of Service of the Federation to pay all outstanding monthly pensions of federal pensioners from April to date.

The union also lamented that over 12,000 pensioners in Ogun State were short-paid through the introduction of e-payment while asking for re-adjustment and payment of arrears as a result of the anomalies.

Addressing the press in Abeokuta on Monday was the state chairman of the union, Chief Joseph Ojo, who lamented the untold hardship faced by the pensioners over irregular payments of their pensions.

Ojo, flanked by other executive members of the union, urged the authorities concerned to stop depriving them of their entitlements “having served the nation meritoriously.”
