Ekiti Deputy Gov Alleges Destabilisation Plot By AC - PDP Is A Den Of Serial Killers - AC

Dapo Falade, Ado-Ekiti - 07.11.2009

THERE is no end in sight yet to the political crisis bedeviling Ekiti State as the deputy governor, Dr. Sikiru Lawal, on Friday accused the Action Congress (AC) of to throw the state into chaos by exterminating some notable leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

In a reaction, however, the AC denied the allegation and described the PDP as a den of serial killers, who were fast running short of its usual tricks, hence, the resort to the latest allegation.

Addressing a press conference in Ado-Ekiti, on Friday, the deputy governor accused the AC leadership of holding series of clandestine meetings aimed at assassinating or kidnapping some top government functionaries, PDP leaders, clergymen and notable businessmen in the state.

“It has become pertinent that we bring to the attention of the peace-loving people of Ekiti State in particular and Nigerians in general of the sinister plots by the AC to throw the state into chaos.

“We have been reliably informed that some leaders of the AC, at a meeting held somewhere at Awolowo Road, Ikoyi Lagos, on Thursday, have strategised to destabilise Ekiti State by assassinating or kidnapping some top functionaries of the government, PDP leaders, clergymen and notable businessmen in the state.

“Some of the people slated for either assassination or kidnap are Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Prince Dayo Adeyeye; Commissioner for Special Duties, Mr. Segun Ilori; Chairman, Local Government Service Commission, Mr. Femi Akinyemi; Chief Adewale Obafemi of Methodist Church, Most Revd. Charles Oderinde and Chairman, National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Ekiti, Chief Omolafe Aderiye.

In a sharp response however, the AC, speaking through its spokesman, Mr. Yemi Adaramodu, said that the allegations were baseless, describing the listed PDP leaders as political spent forces that have no relevance.

“What are the political values of Adewale who crashed from being an Attorney General to a judicial messenger or Adeyeye who was the only AD candidate who lost in the South West in the 1999and an impeached former Ondo State Speaker?” he said.
