Olawale Olaniyan - 07.11.2009

AS Nigerians are celebrating Golden Eaglets’ victory over their counterpart from New Zealand by 5-0 on Thursday night at the Abuja national stadium, the team coach John Obuh has said he was pleased with his boys result.

Eaglets beat New Zealand to qualify for quarter final stage in the on-going competition. Speaking with news men at Abuja national stadium after the match Obuh said “I get so happy any time i make a change and it worked out for me so I’m very pleased with the result.

“When I see that the attacker is clumsy, I try to make a change and with God on our side we’ll win continue to win and retain the trophy. Said former Kwara United coach.

Eaglets will now tackle their Asian giant, Korea Republic in the quarter final stage. It would be recall that Korea defeated Mexico 5-3 in the penalty shot out after both team could not find each other net in the crucial time.

Meanwhile, New Zealand coach, Stephen Cain said “Eaglets’ are too strong, too good for us. With 11 men it was difficult and with 10 men is not possible.

“They come back stronger but I’m proud of my young team despite our loss to the host nation because they are great team said Cain.
