Nwachi, Mba Join Dolphins
07.11.2009
Forty players
trained on Thursday as Dolphins stepped up preparations for the Globacom Premier League which resumes on November 18, 2009.
Prominent amongst the players are Emma Nwachi who joined up from
Bayelsa United where he has been for the last two seasons and former Golden Eaglets midfielder, Sunday Mba who was signed from Rangers.
When the league went on break on October 18, the players were also given a two week recess before resumption on Monday, November 2.
Nwachi signed for Dolphins from Bayelsa United in the off season but stayed back with his club to conclude their run in the CAF Confe-deration Cup.
Meanwhile, Emma Nwachi has stated that it was his desire for a new challenge that made him dump Bayelsa United for Dolphins.
Nwachi shocked the football world when he announced he was leaving Bayelsa United, the Nigerian league champions to join Dolphins who just gained promotion to the Premier League.
“When I left Sharks to Bayelsa United two seasons ago I wanted to win the League and play on the continent,” Nwachi said. “Now we have played in the CAF Confederation Cup and we just won the League to play in the CAF Champions League so I told myself it was time to move on and get a new challenge. “
“Now Dolphins are not new to titles but having been relegated and just returning to the top I think it will be a good place to fight for a return to the continent.”
Nwachi will have a big fight on his hands as he tries to displace other regular attackers, Obinna Amakor, Captain Ejindu, Danjuma Abdulahi amongst others of their places in the starting line up of the team.
