‘Victory Against S-Leone Not Negotiable’

SUPER Eagles of Nigeria vow they will not relent as they confront the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone in a 2010 World Cup qualifier in Abuja National Stadium today.

Nigeria has already proceeded to the next stage of qualifying for both the 2010 World Cup and African Cup of Nations, but Eagles’ captain, Nwankwo Kanu, and team coach, Amodu Shaibu, believe the team must maintain its impeccable record.

The Eagles have won all their five games in the series so far, conceding no goal and posting the best record of the qualifiers in the world.

“You can see the number of players in attendance. That means we are here to do business. Every game is important and that means we have to give our best against Sierra Leone or any opponent we encounter” says Kanu.

Meanwhile, Amodu insists on victory because the results will count for much in seedings in the later days of the qualifiers.

“The maximum 18 points from this round will improve our chances of being seeded for the third and final phase,” Amodu said.
