An agriculture expert and a research fellow at the Economic Policy Research Department of the Nigerian Institute of Social and Economic Research (NISER), Ibadan, Dr. Olorunfemi Ogundele, has described Nigeria as the largest producer and consumer of rice in West Africa.

The Growth Enhancement Support, (GES), a special agricultural scheme of the Federal Government aimed at delivering subsidised farm inputs and facilitating a shift from subsistence to commercial farming, has recorded an impressive roll-out success with several states already running the programme.

THE Executive Governor of Niger State, Dr. Mua’zu Babangida Aliyu,who has been preaching agricultural revolution, has flagged off the Nigeria-Israeli joint agricultural project tagged: “Irrigation is Life”.
