In its bid to ensure 20 per cent increase in the usage of family planning contraceptives before 2014 in Kwara State, the Nigerian Urban Reproductive Health Initiative (NURHI) at the weekend stormed Offa Local Government for its campaign.

Besides, NURHI last Saturday, launched a radio magazine style program tagged “Ireti Eda” on FM station of Kwara State Broadcasting Corporation (Radio Kwara).

The campaign was organised by a non governmental organisation (NGO), Royal Heritage Health Foundation in charge of NURHI’s social mobilisation programme.

For over three hours, the foundation with its mobilising group and HUGRI team in the state toured the ancient town of Offa sensitising residents and distributing reading materials for more education and enlightenment on the usage of the contraceptives.

The team during its campaign, visited major areas like, Olofa road, Offa LG secretariat road, Osunte, Federal Polytechnic, Offa’s gate, Olomowewe among others.

A cross section of Offa residents both young and middle age in the area visited, trouped out in large number to embrace the team.

Speaking with newsmen shortly after the tour, the Chief Executive of the Foundation, Mr Olusoji Shogunro, expressed satisfaction with the turnout of residents of Offa, noting that people were ready to embrace the programme brought to them.

“I didn’t know we could have men and women of reproductive age of that magnitude in Offa. In every area we went to, I saw them in large number responding to the mobilisation.”

“The response from Offa. I was surprised. I didn’t know that we will have men and women of reproductive age of that magnitude in Offa. In every area we went to I could see them in large numbers and they are ready responding to the mobilisation,” shogunro said.
