President Goodluck Jonathan has assured Nigerians that government will always be alive to its responsibilities to them.

He gave this assurance during his tour of flood-ravaged states in Gurin, Fufore Local government Area of Adamawa State, on Monday.

Jonathan noted that natural disasters are bound to occur and Nigerians should be grateful that we were not ravaged by hurricane, fire or earthquake.

“We thank God it is flood, as we can do something about it. We shall work with state governments and other disaster control agencies to bring succour to the people.

President Jonathan then admonished victims to go and resume their farming and fishing occupations, noting that  camps would be made more habitable for those who were still there.

He commended the flood victims for conducting themselves in an orderly manner while giving kudos to the state government for its quick  response to the flood victims.

Earlier, Governor Murtala Nyako commended the president for his visit to the state, despite his numerous supports to the state in the past.

He assured  victims of government’s comprehensive package for them, such as provision of seedlings to farmers and fishermen would also be assisted to resume their occupation.
