The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), B-Zone, has attributed the gross insecurity in the country to lack of good governance over the years as well as attitudes of some disgruntled politicians to rule by all means.

This is contained in a communiqué issued in Ibadan by the Coordinator, MSSN, B-Zone, Alhaji Ibrahim Giwa, at the end of a 10-day Islamic Vacation Course (IVC) organised by the society held between December 23, 2010 and January 1, 2011 at IVC camp, Km 30, Ibadan/ Lagos Expressway.

It stated that the effects of poor governance over the years had brought about poverty and unemployment, which had forced a good number of jobless people to be committing crimes.

The society called on government at all levels to ensure that programmes that would touch the lives of the masses were embarked upon while the issue of unemployment be addressed so as to discourage jobless ones from involving in criminal activities.

It urged parents to take good care of their children and impact morals into them so as to prevent them from becoming thugs to desperate politicians who could not use their own children for thuggery and destruction of lives and property.

The release condemned in its totality the spate of bomb explosions and violent loss of lives and property in some parts of the country and urged the Federal Government to set up an independent panel of enquiry to unravel the causes with a view to bringing the perpetrators to book.
