The Assembly of Muslims in Nigeria (AMIN) has joined others to condemn the spate of bombings in Nigeria and called for religious tolerance based on justice and fairness.

The Chairman of AMIN, Sheik Ibrahim Saleh, in a statement in Abuja, condemned any form of attacks on any places of worship or the Nigerian people under any guise.

“The Assembly of Muslims in Nigeria (AMIN) hereby, wishes to call the attention of the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, religious leaders of both Islam and Christianity to deal with the issue at hand with caution and maturity” he said.

Quoting various portions of the Qur’an, the Assembly denounced the Christmas bomb attacks and killing of innocent souls under any guise, saying “ Islam has prohibited any assault on souls, organs and bloodshed.

“Islam also ordains the protection of the brain, one’s dignity, lineage, properties as well as protection of the environment where all creatures live together. The recent bloody bombardments are unacceptable in all religions and faiths. There is no compulsion in religion”, he said.

AMIN called on all stakeholders to fear Allah in everything they do as Allah would punish people for their bad intentions.

The Assembly also advised both religious and political leaders to avoid inflammatory statements capable of worsening the already tensed situation in the country.

AMIN applauded the security measures and awareness taken by the Federal Government especially on the state of emergency in some local governments in the country and urged it to step it up.
