Founder & Spiritual Head, Shafaudeen In Islam Worldwide, Alhaji Sabit Olakoge, has said that transformation of Nigeria must include attitudinal change towards institutional discipline, integrity, sincerity, fear of god and patriotism.  

He said that for transformation to be meaningful, government functionaries need to reflect for the nation to grow by: patronising Nigerian schools for the education of their children, patronising Nigerian hospitals for medical care, shunning ostentatious life and cut cost of governance/government expenditure, enthroning China/Saudi punishment deterrent formula for thieves or kleptomaniacs, reverting back to indigenization to have 100 per cent local content industrialisation and using Norwegian policy for oil by diversifying the economy and saving oil proceeds for the empowerment of the youth and future development.

Speaking at the 2011 Inter-faith symposium with the theme “Democracy and Global Peace: Leadership Challenge” in Ibadan, Oyo State, he called on the government to tackle corruption issues before removing oil subsidy which must be done with caution and in phases.

According to him, only visionary leader with transformation agenda could enhance good governance through people oriented policy.  

He said that Nigerians should practise theo-democracy for effectiveness and high productivity at least to justify the numerous churches, mosques and faith based organisations, saying that the iumplementation of oil subsidy is ill-timed as it coincides with the period when the nation looks up for solution to Boko Haram carnage, aggravating into ethno-religious blood-bath.

While noting that Boko Haram applies to all types and facets of knowledge wrongly or not properly applied for development, he said “we are therefore all guilty of the fault when we mismanage resources and oppress people through our privileged positions of power.
