Share

THE Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN) has condemned the acts of violence and terror that have become the hallmarks of the Boko Haram sect saying that such activities have no place in Islam.

Describing the various attacks and bombings carried out by the group as crime against humanity, the MMPN, in a statement by its president, Alhaji Lekan Jeariogbe, stated that Islam symbolised peace, love and tolerance among all creatures of Allah.

The Islamic body emphasised that there was no compulsion in religion, as every human being has the liberty to practise the faith he is convinced of. The MMPN commiserated with the families of the victims of the heinous activities of Boko Haram saying that Islam and Muslims continue to recognie the sanctity of lives of everyone regardless of their doctrines.

The body also called on government to speed up action aimed at taiming the activities of the sect.
