THE House of Representatives will today resume from its annual recess, which it embarked upon on July 19 amidst allegation of non-implementation of 2012 budget by President Goodluck Jonathan-led administration.

Nigerian Tribune recalled that Honourable Albert Sam-Tsokwa and 20 other members had, on July 19, caused the House to adopt a motion, entitled, “non-implementation of the 2012 budget,” where the executive arm of government was advised to improve on its implementation.

It also recalled that the minority leader of the House, Honourable Femi Gbajabimiala, on the same date, while contributing to the motion, mooted the idea of impeachment of President Jonathan over what he termed non-implementation of the budget as passed by the National Assembly.

The House had equally urged the president to direct the Minister of Finance to stop forthwith, her violation of 2012 budget as passed by the National Assembly and release accordingly, first and second quarters appropriation to the ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs).

Last week, the Speaker, Honourable Aminu Tambuwal, directed the chairmen of the 89 standing committees of the House to conduct appraisal of the status of implementation of the appropriation act.

The chairmen are expected to furnish the office of the House Leader, Honourable Mulikat Adeola-Akande, with the appraisal before the resumption date.

Nigerian Tribune, however, gathered that the input of the chairmen would form the direction of the House on the budget matter as it resumes today.

Efforts to get the House leader to confirm if the chairmen had started turning in their reports failed, as she was said to be busy with national award ceremony.
