THE Ekiti State governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has paid the required fees of all final year secondary school students in the state public secondary schools, who are preparing to sit for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

The state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Dr Eniola Ajayi, disclosed this in a statement issued to reporters in Ado-Ekiti, on Thursday.

She urged parents and guardians not to pay any money related to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) charges.

The commissioner also warned principals of secondary schools in the state against collecting money for WASSCE from students, parents and guardians.

According to her, any principal who violated the directive by charging illegal fees would be sanctioned by the state government.

Mrs Ajayi reaffirmed the commitment of the Fayemi-led administration to the development of education, which was an integral part of its roadmap to development, otherwise known as the eight-point agenda.

She also emphasised that the Fayemi-led government operated a free education policy from primary to secondary levels in all public schools in the state.
