Man kills girlfriend’s son in Ibadan
A middle-aged man, Adesile Ogooluwa, has been arrested for allegedly killing five-year-old Ayo Tunde at Olorunsogo, in Ibadan South-East Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The suspect, who is a motor spare parts seller in Lagos, was said to have committed the offence last Sunday before escaping to Lagos.
Nigerian Tribune learnt that the suspect had come from Lagos on Saturday for the postponed National Assembly election to commit the crime.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo State, SP Olatunji Ajimuda, who confirmed the incident in Ibadan on Thursday, said the matter was still under investigation.
He disclosed that police detectives had gone to Lagos to effect his arrest for him to face the law.
A source told the Nigerian Tribune that the suspect decided to kill the Nursery two pupil because his mother refused to marry the suspect.
According to a source, the mother of the deceased, Mrs Aminat Azeez had, after disagreement with her husband, the father of her only son, decided to start another relationship with another man.
Fortunately for her, she met Adesile who promised to marry her.
The source added that it was when she started another relationship with Adesile that the family intervened and settled the rift between her and the husband.
Aminat, therefore, decided to return to her former husband and this generated another misunderstanding between her and Adesile.
It was when Adesile failed to get her into marriage that he decided to kill her only son.
