Police arrest 23 suspected thugs in Kwara
THE Kwara State police command has arrested 23 suspected political thugs allegedly imported from Lagos State to disorganise the National Assembly election in the state, on Saturday.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Mamman Tsafe, while addressing newsmen in Ilorin, on Sunday, during the overview of the poll, noted that the suspected thugs were arrested at different points during the poll.
He said the command had commenced full investigation into their arrest, adding that as soon as investigation was completed, they would be arraigned in the court of the law.
The police commissioner said the police command was committed to the successful conduct of the all the elections in the country, adding that this was to ensure the growth of democracy.
He commended members of the public, politicians and all stakeholders in the poll, adding that their cooperation had helped the state to witness a peaceful conduct of the poll.
“I want to say that the National Assembly poll on Saturday is successful and this is due to the support and cooperation of all and sundry involved in the conduct of the poll in the state,” he said.
