Emulate Essien-Igbokwe, Fayemi’s wife urges up-coming artistes
Wife of Ekiti State governor, Chief (Mrs) Bisi Fayemi, has charged young and up-coming female musicians in Nigeria to emulate the late Lady of Songs, Mrs Christy Essien-Igbokwe.
Mrs Fayemi, in a statement made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti, on Tuesday, and signed by her media aide, Mr Akin Oyedele, described the death of the popular musician as, “a great loss to the music industry in particular and the country in general.”
She added that, “it is a sad reminder that death is the ultimate end of human beings.”
Mrs Fayemi also recalled “how the versatile artiste enlivened many homes with the way she interpreted her role as Apena in the popular situation comedy of the 1980s, “The Masquerade.”
In her 50 years on earth, she said the popular musician lived a life devoted to churning out music that thought values and patriotism to the country, in recognition of which she bagged local and international awards.
Condoling with the Igbokwe family, Mrs. Fayemi said the family “should take solace in the Spartan life of the departed and the impact she made on the entertainment industry in her short but eventful life.”
