A group of African youths, Global Alternative Agenda (GAA), has called on the international community to condemn the Thursday’s killing of the former Libyan president, Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, describing the circumstance surrounding his death as assassination.

President of the group, Mr Oludare Ogunlana, in a statement in Ibadan, on Sunday, noted that since Gaddafi was captured alive by the NATO forces, he should have been afforded internationally-acceptable mode of prosecution, rather than shooting him in public glare as the video footage shown to the world indicated.

“The assassination of Gaddafi was highly irresponsible, a breach of all international laws. It was barbaric and humiliating to all Africans. It must be condemned in the strongest terms.

“While we identify with the aspirations of the Libyans in their quest for democracy, we condemn the brutal and extra-judicial killing of Gaddafi,” the statement read.

The group identified with the Libyan masses  called on the international community to respect their rights to determine their own future.

While noting that the cold murder of the Libyan leader was masterminded by external forces, the GAA condemned what it described as an immoral means to achieve a moral end.”
