Policeman kills tokunbo car driver in Oyo
THERE was pandemonium in Igboora,Ibarapa Central Local Government Area of Oyo State, on Wednesday, when a dismissed policeman, identified as Femi Ajayi, killed a tokunbo driver, Kola Eniola.
The victim, Nigerian Tribune gathered, was trying to carry a tokunbo vehicle across, when he was stopped by the policeman on Idere-Ayete road.
An eyewitness told the Nigerian Tribune that the policeman had demanded for N300 as bribe from the driver, but the driver was said to have offered him N200, which he rejected.
Argument was said to have ensued between the two when, suddenly, the policeman fired a gunshot and killed the tokunbo driver on the spot.
The policeman was allegedly dismissed from the Ogun State police command and re-employed into the service through the Oyo State police command.
The action was said to have angered the mob who set the policeman ablaze, though he did not die.
When contacted, police source said policemen had been drafted to the scene of the incident to ensure safety of lives and property.
The mob, who protested the killing of the driver, marched through the major streets chanting war songs and demanded justice.
