The campaign organisation of the winner of the January 2011 primary election in Kogi State, on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Jibrin Isah Echocho, on Monday, called for the total implementation of the Supreme Court judgment which reversed the earlier decision of the lower court which had extended the tenure of five state governors, Kogi inclusive, beyond May 29, 2011.

Echocho had won the January 2011 gubernatorial primary election in the state on the platform of the PDP.

Addressing a press conference in Abuja, the spokesperson of the organisation, Phrank Shaibu, said that the judgment of the apex court was misinterpreted in Kogi State and flagrantly violated to achieve an alleged selfish purpose.

According to him, “now that it is obvious that the judiciary has performed its duty honestly and diligently, we urge the authorities responsible for the implementation of such a landmark judgment to ensure that the orders of the Apex Court are put into action and obeyed by all.”

The organisation called on the Federal Government and all lovers of democracy to initiate legitimate moves that would uphold the rule of law, sustenance of peace in tghe state.

It will be recalled that the apex court had sacked five state governors, contrary to the earlier tenure elongation by the lower courts.

This development made the PDP to conduct a fresh primary election which produced Idris Wada as its standard bearer.

Election had since been conducted in the state by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) where PDP emerged as the winner.
