THE authorities of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, on Wednesday, in Ibadan, inaugurated a scratch card payment scheme for credit meter customers, in partnership with the Fleet Tchnologies Limited, just as it allayed workers’ fear over privatisation exercise.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the electricity distribution firm, Mr Bolaji Oyesiku, made this known during the official inuaguration of the scheme at the Dugbe business unit of the company, adding that the launch of the new product tagged “Scratch Card for Payment of Electricity Bills” was aimed at reducing the stress associated with bill settlement.

While saying that the scratch card was a new technological innovation in the company which would make life easier of its customers, he said adequate provision had been made to handle any complaint emanated in the course of the use of the card.

Oyesiku said the company was constantly upgrading necessary facilities to meet the present day customer demand and expectations, which was exemplified by the recent repairs and re-commissioning of 150MVA, 330.132KV power transformer at Ayede.

He said the company was faced with various challenges with the distribution of available energy to its customers in its aread of operation and solicited for more cooperation from all stakeholders.

Addressing the issue of privatisation, he said “it is not the matter of retrenchment, but to provide effective and officient service delivery to Nigerians,” adding that the successor company would still need vibrant engineers who were the nucleus of the system and other professionals in various fields of human endeavour, hence, the need for workers not to panic over privatisation.

He said that the new product, scractch card scheme, was a pilot scheme inaugurated in Ibadan metropolis and would take effect, from March, 2012, in all the 19 busness units under the distribution company, adding that the company was presently generating 5000MW of electricity as the authorities was among at 10,000 MW before the end of the year.

Also, the deputy managing director of Fleet Technologies Limited, Mike Aigbe, said that the collaboration would add value to service delivery of business philosophy of his company was based on the need to reduce the problems of customers.

He, however, said that the company would not relent in putting in place necessary machinery at improving innovative techniques and techonolgy to bring about efficient and effective service delivery as the mission and vission of the Fleet Techonlogies ws to solve real life problems with the introduction of modern technologies and collaborating with the relevant stakeholders.
