THE Oyo State governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, on Wednesday, said the second year of his administration would witness the transformation of the Ibadan airport to a cargo airport, to complement the Erunmu dry port and the new development corridors on the proposed 110-kilometre circular road in the state capital.

Besides, the governor also promised to partner private investors in the supply of natural gas to the state, so as to attract local and foreign investors.

Governor Ajimobi stated these while presenting his “State of the State” address at the floor of the state House of Assembly, as part of the activities marking the first anniversary of his administration.

The occasion was witnessed by the chief judge of the state, Justice Badejoko Adeniji; the deputy governor, Chief Moses Adeyemo, members of the state executive council, top government officials, party stalwarts and other stakeholders.

The governor also said his administration had been working on the expansion of rail transport facility to the state, stressing that the combination of the facilities would add fillip to the quest for private sector’s investment to enhance the development of the state.

The governor, who recalled the recent listing of Ibadan as one of the top 10 destinations of choice for investments in Africa, by the prestigious Financial Times of London, said this was a further confirmation that the efforts of the administration had been yielding fruits.

He congratulated the lawmakers, stressing that “hardly in the history of the parliament in Oyo State, not even when a single party was in clear majority, have we had a year-long peaceful, mature and patriotic conduct of legislative business as we have had.”

The speaker of the assembly, Honourable Monsurat Sunmonu, in her address, commended the governor for the feat he had achieved within one year, saying “all the members of the assembly, in spite of our different political party affiliations, are one in their support for Project Oyo State. We believe in the synergy for the good of our people.”

This is a development in oyo-state and am really glad about the vision and plan of the Gov bcuz this will also add to the development of the state in travel and tourism in oyo state,and also add another source of revenue. ogun state also planned to do such project some yrs ago but i dont know if it was successful till date cuz i live in ibadan and work in the aviation industry and is willing to assist in this project if any proffessional assistant is needed...OYO ONI DARU OOOO.

Good initiative the Gov. As a stakeholder in the aviation industry, i believe ibadan should even host an international airport were it not for its proximity to Lagos. However, a cargo airport will transform the airport and even the economy of the state since the city is industrialized unlike Ilorin that currently hosts a cargo airport but with no activities to keep it viable. Moreover, businessmen and women in the neighbouring states of Osun, Ondo and Ekiti may even prefer the cargo airport to the one in Lagos since it's closer to them

My Dear Governor,

I read your profile when you became governor and i know quite well that you will bring your wealth of political knowledge and industrial experience to bear on the governance of oyo state re physical development,security and industrialisation of the state to provide job opportunities for our teeming employable school leavers and artisans.
The changes in the physical development of the state have been great in the last 12 months. Also.I have witnessed peace, oyo state is no more the wild wild west but the wise wise, west. Please keep it up , my prayer is that the Almighty Allah will continue to assist you and your team to govern oyo state well. In another 12 months to come, I wish to congratulate you on the number of industries that would have sprung up in Oyo State .
