Boko Haram: We no longer practise our religion -Borno elders
Borno elders, led by a former Minister of Petroleum, Dr Shettima Monguno, has said the face-off between the aggrieved sect of the Jama’atu Ahlus Sunnah Lid da’waati Wal Jihad a.k.a Boko Haram and federal law enforcement agents has denied the people of the state the peace they had enjoying and almost brought the society to its knees, since the beginning of the crises in the last three years.
The elders, drawn majorly from the Kanuri extraction stated this on Wednesday, while addressing newsmen at the resident of the former minister.
According to them, the people of Borno State could no longer engage in any meaningful activities to sustain their lives. “Nowadays the people cannot perform the five obligatory prayers in congregation in mosques near their houses or perform the Friday prayers in several mosques in the town. We are no longer practicing our religion as desired.”
The elders comprised Dr Monguno, Brigadier Geneneral Abba Kyari (retd); Mr Gaji Galtimari; Alhaji Bulama Gana; Mr Aisha Wakil; Abubakar Ghide; Mr Hamza Yarima; Modu Rijiya; Bulama Mali Gubio; Sheikh Goni Gapchiya; Alhaji Kyari Sandabe; Ibrahim Abba Gubio; Umaru Ibrahim and Imam Laisu.
The elders who declined commenting on why they did not involve people from other parts of the state and elders from the Christian faith, said they were neither elected nor appointed but that they volunteered themselves to speak on the issues concerning the state.
They said, so far, thousands of lives were lost and thousands others were either maimed or traumatised as people could no longer move from one point to another without being subjected to harrowing experiences.

HOw awful, but then, you are saying really you blame the Christan, faither, and Police, Forces, can't you see that is is the jihadist, of Islam leaders that is killing thier own people in north, take lessons of NOrth East Africa, elders,
The Brotherhood of Islam, is a gang group, Borno ,group is part of that of Brotherhood Islam, so, then, you Edlers teach your folks to help ,the Law stop those people, cause it will only get worse, if you don't, these groups don't care about thier own people, they kill you and make it looks, like it's the Nigerians of Christain faith doing it, and it's also the corrupt Poiticans doing it with these Brotherhood,
Why do i say that, your own Isam, Bible, in the last chapter teaches you to kill your own people, if they don't kneel down on your Wishes, Elders that believe, Islam should take over the earth,NOw , the General of the Army has gone to Pakistan and got them to work with Nigeria Forces, so they say ,to help Nigeria Army fight the Radicals of Islam, in Nigeria, worse thing the country could do, cuase they will be moving more bombs material into the underground groups in nigeria to kill more of thier own people, Who am i to say this, i am man of God, and i set here wondring why, the Leadrship of Nigeria can not gmail a offical documents that , shows i am owner of Wendy Jones Estate, if you are elders then read this, Great that the laws of nigeria as they are or the corrupted offical would, steal the funds of the People of Delta even faster, i will never give those corrupt peopel control of Wendy Jones Estaete, but cuase thier is so much hacking gong on on internet from Corrupt peopel in NIgeria,i have never gotten thier to put people back ot work, so elders you thanki of that, Millions being held up,cause of currupt people of Nigeria,
