FOR effective running of Air Nigeria operations, the management of the airline has divided the operational activities of the airline to three strategic directorates.

Dropping this hint at a press conference, was the chairman of the airline, Mr Jimoh Ibrahim, who equally announced that the airline had completed its second turnaround programme and had embarked on a strategic programme.

The decentralisation of flight operations in the airline, according to Ibrahim, had led to the separation of international operations from the regional operations, while the national operations, which was the domestic operations now stood on its own, with each being managed by its own directorate.

Each of the three directorates is to be managed by a director who will be expected to manage its directorate independently, without disturbing the other.

“As we move on, we are now going to separate the aircraft servicing all the routes, this will enable us to create efficiency. Each directorate will operate on its own with pure autonomy.

In addition, he called on the Federal Government to ban from the country's airspace, geriatric aircraft, which he humorously nicknamed “Grand Papa” planes.

Ibrahim stated that the average age of aircrafts in the fleet of his airline was between three and nine years and that they are maintained as at when due to ensure safety.
