ICPC drags HoS staff to court over pension funds scam

THE Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has dragged Mr John Agabi Emmanuel of the Office of  the Head of Service of the Federation (HoS) to court, on allegation of corruptly enriching himself with pension funds.

The ICPC, on Friday, June 22, 2012,  filed a 31- count charge against  Mr Agabi Emmanuel, who as a data processing officer attached to Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT) in the office of HOS was alleged to have inserted “ghost” pensioners on the e-pension data base to perpetrate the fraud.

Charged with him was one Omotayo Gloria Philadjigbey, into whose account, in various banks, some of the pension funds were allegedly credited, through electronic transfers.

The two accused, Mr Agabi Emmanuel and Gloria Philadjigbey, were nabbed and charged to court following a culmination of investigations by ICPC

The investigations, which commenced a few weeks ago, was as a result of a signed petition to ICPC by Mr A.A Maina, the chairman of the PRTT.

The ICPC, through this investigation, had recovered various sums from several banks account allegedly lodged by the accused.
