IN its determination to curb examination malpractices in the state, the Bauchi State government, at the weekend, expressed its readiness to partner the West African Examination Council (WAEC) to wage a war against the menace in the state.

This is even as it lamented that examination malpractices had become the order of the day, calling on all stakeholders in the country to join hands together with a view to completely eradicating it.

Speaking while receiving the state WAEC branch controller, Mr J N Ndama, in his office in Bauchi, the state Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Ibrahim Aminu, stated that the partnership became imperative in order to eliminate the menace.

He said the state government was ready to collaborate with stakeholders in the education sector to fight the examination malpratices.

The commissioner noted that students nowadays did not pay much attention to their studies, preferring instead to concentrate on social activities and dubious means to get good results, adding that the state government was ready to partner WAEC in the proper monitoring and supervision of students throughout examinations periods in the state.

He, however, enjoined the examination body to ensure appropriate marking of its examinations, in order to enable students have the chance of furthering their studies.

Speaking earlier, state WAEC branch controller, said his visit to the commissioner's office was aimed at exploring possible areas of collaboration between the examination body and the state government for the betterment of the state education sector.

According to him, any collaboration between WAEC and the Bauchi State government would rub off positively on the students in the state.
