THE Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Thursday, disclosed that 1,654,205 voters are registered to participate in the next governorship election in Ondo State.

The state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Akin Orebiyi, said this in Akure, during the presentation of soft copies of voter register to the political parties participating in the election.

He said the commission had corrected the anomalies noticed in the register used for the last general election in April 2011.

Orebiyi, on the occasion, presented forms for those who would serve as agents to representatives of the various political parties in the election.

“Leadership of the political parties are expected to scrutinise the register and raise objection in case any fault is discovered,” he said.

According to him, about 65 per cent of the voters were below 35 years, adding that civil servants, artisans, and traders also constituted the bulk of the voters.
