Ahmed Musa thrilled by Ronaldo’s compliments

LIVELY Nigerian winger, Ahmed Musa, says he is moved by the accolades he got from  boyhood hero, Cristiano Ronaldo as he  made his maiden UEFA Champions League appearance for his new club, CSKA Moscow against Spanish giant, Real Madrid on Tuesday.
The game ended 1-1.

Musa  disclosed that Ronaldo, who opened scoring for the visiting Spanish giants, acknowledged his talent and encouraged him, saying. "Ronaldo gave me a pat on my back, he said I did well and will go places.''

The former Kano Pillars striker who recently teamed up with the Russian club from Dutch club VVV Venlo played for 61 minutes before being replaced by Liberian international, Sekou Oliseh in the encounter in which a late leveller ensured CSKA shared the spoils with the La Liga frontrunner.

Speaking on his performance, the winger said he was fulfilled making his UEFA Champions League debut, but hoped for a better performance and result in the second leg at the famous  Santiago Bernabeu.

"I did my best in the game as a player, I was delighted to play in the Champions League for the first time in my career.  It was a great game and a draw was not so bad as we can go to Spain to beat them in the return leg,'' Musa told MTNFootball.com soon after the match in Moscow.

Going by the first leg scoreline, bookmakers already see Madrid finishing off the Russian side in the return leg to advance to the last 16 but Musa was of the belief that his team can shock soccer pundits by eliminating the nine time champions.

Musa’s electrifying pace on the right flank caused Real some bother in the first half and the Nigeria international also had a chance to hit target.

“I thought my shot was going in at a point but (Iker) Casillas denied me. I believe he won't be that lucky in the second leg," said Musa, who had hoped to mark his debut with a goal.

The first yellow card of the game went to Xavi Alonso for a foul on the flying Nigeria winger.
