SUPER Eagles head coach Stephen Keshi has joined numerous Nigerians seeking peace in some parts of northern being rocked by clashes that have left hundreds of people dead.

Apparently worried by the incessant crisis which is escalating daily, the ex international described it as disastrous, calling on those behind it to allow peace to reign.

It will be noted that Keshi' Super Eagles were disallowed from playing their 2014 and 2013 World and Nations Cup qualifier in Kaduna due to fear of terrorist attack which has been rampant in the north.

Speaking in Abuja during the week, Keshi expressed worries over the development and called for calm and immediate resolutions to the problem.

"It is very saddening what things have turned into in Nigeria, it is high time peace was restored in those trouble areas,'' declared the former Anderlecht of Belgium libero.

Meanwhile, FOLLOWING complaints by some players of the Super Eagles on the state of the pitch of the UJ Esuene Stadium, Calabar, the Cross River State Government said it will work on the surface to make it better, ahead of the Super Eagles game in September.

Team captain, Joseph Yobo was the latest to complain about the state of the pitch after Saturday's 2-0 win over Rwanda in a 2013 AFCON qualifiers.

In reaction to this, Cross River State Sports Commissioner Patrick Ugbe, said work will be carried out on the pitch in order to address the players' concerns.

''Ours is to continue to work on the facilities that we have and make it better than it used to be. The venue was worked on before the match against Rwanda and will still be worked on even after then.

''We are looking at making the Stadium better than it was during the Rwanda tie and work will start in earnest immediately to ensure that it is achieved,'' Ugbe said.

Nigeria will know its opponents for the two-legged final qualifying round fixture in September and October when CAF holds draws next week in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Meanwhile, NIGERIA Premier League (NPL) club, Warri Wolves will take punitive action against three of their Super Eagles’ players if they fail to return to the camp of the team by the end of the week.

Azubuike Egwuekwe, Chigozie Agbim, and Sunday Mba are reportedly yet to rejoin the team following their involvement with the Nigerian national team, in the recent 2013 Africa Cup of Nations and 2014 Fifa World Cup qualifying matches.

With the Super Eagles’ camp closing on Sunday, officials of Wolves says there was an agreement for the players to arrive in Warri on Tuesday.

The trio however failed to turn up as agreed leaving the management of Wolves exasperated.

“We will take action against them if they are not in Warri by the end of the week. They are our players and are supposed to have returned by now.”

“(Enugu Rangers’ forward), Ejike Uzoenyi who was part of the Super Eagles’ team played for his club (on Wednesday) so our players have no excuse to stay away,” General Manager, Media of Wolves, Timi Ebikagboro told SuperSport.com.

One of the players, Agbim however claimed that they had been in Warri since Monday and were surprised to have been declared AWOL.

“Our flight was cancelled on Sunday and that accounted for our delay in arriving in Warri. However, we have been in Warri since Monday,” Agbim told SuperSport.com.

Quizzed on why they missed Wednesday’s game against Rising Stars, the shot-stopper attributed the development to ‘fatigue.’

“We would have played the game but we were very tired because the trip back was very stressful. However, we will be back by the next game,” he said.
