A name gives one an identity. It also beautifies and makes one relevant in the society. Having a name makes you know more about yourself and what your parents went through before they could have you. For instance, my name is ‘Damilola’ which tells and insinuates that my parents are being blessed with me. This was why I was given these names; meaning ‘praise be to God’ and ‘God stood by me’. Parents should give their children good names no matter the situation because names determine your destiny and how far you will go in life. And as a child, you have to act according to your name and not otherwise.

To me, my name speaks a lot about me; my background, tribe and even lifestyle. Parents should try to know the kind of child they gave birth to, whether male or female and look for a meaningful name that will have a positive impact on the child when he or she grows up.

NAME makes people know who you are and gives you recognition. My name in the Christian religion means, ‘ father of all nations’ which has a synonym in Islam. My parents gave me the name because they believe I can rule my world and that my future is very bright. Knowing the meaning of names before naming a child is of great importance. As a child, you need to act according to the good name you have been given. I’m sure no parent will give his\her child a bad name.

NAMES make or allow people to identify themselves. I have been named after King Fhad of Saudi Arabia and my second name Damilola means, ‘God has made my family richer’. The names have really affected me positively in making me a leader and a very good ambassador of my school. We should be very conscious of the names we answer, especially our nicknames. Children should live and act the meaning of their names, this goes a long  way in making our parents happy.

NAME is very important for every new born child. My name adds beauty to me. My name “Oluwadamilola” means, ‘God has made me wealthy’. My parents are simply saying that God has blessed them with a precious gift. I really love my name, even with the general belief that all ‘Damilolas’ are smart and brilliant, makes me feel proud of the name. Parents should give their children good and meaningful names, because this tells more of the child’s fortune in life; it’s like a prophecy which reflects on the future.
