Kwankwaso, Wammako, Lamido absent at PDP N/West meeting

THREE Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors from the Northwest zone were conspicuously absent during the PDP Chairman’s Reconciliation tour of the North-West Zone at the Umaru Musa Yar’adua Sports Complex, Kaduna on Saturday.

They were the Governor of Kano State; Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso; his counterpart in Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido and the Governor of Sokoto State, Aliyu Magatakarda Wammako.

The meeting which was to reconcile and chart a new course for the ruling party,however had in attendance the host governor, Alhaji Muhktar Ramalan Yero, Governor of Kebbi State, Saidu Dakingari, Governor Shehu Shema of Katsina State, former governor of Kebbi State, Adamu Aliero, former governor of Zamfara State, Mamuda Shinkafi and many other chieftains of the PDP from across the northwest zone.

Governor Shema of Katsina State who spoke on behalf of the Northwest governors, reiterated their resolve working towards ensuring that the zone remain in the firm grip of the PDP. He also appealed to party faithful to unite and bury their differences in the interest of the party and Nigeria.

However, Senator Ahmed Makarfi in his remarks, expressed that now was the time for the leadership of the party to work towards a genuine reconciliation considering the challenges ahead.

The National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur assured that the party would continue to win elections as was exemplified recently during the local council polls in the FCT, adding that with a genuine commitment and a united front, the opposition would continue to lag behind the PDP.
