The Caretaker Committee Chairman, Ejigbo Local Government Area of Osun State, Alhaji Tiamiyu Akinwale Abiodun, has been given an award for his commitment to community development.

Tiamiyu received the award recently from the National Award for Excellence in Grassroots Leadership in Abuja.

While responding, the local government boss stressed that, “The award came as a surprise. I didn’t know that people were monitoring my work, until I received a letter that I have been chosen as one of the
best chairmen of all the local governments in the South-West".

The council boss said further, "through this award, I have now intensified my efforts at making sure that I uplift the status of every community under my council area and to also distribute evenly the dividends of democracy to all and sundry.

"I did not arrange the award. To me, I cannot buy or finance an award. I know that my work proved my worth to my people in particular and to the state in general," he said.

Meanwhile, the Ejigbo Council boss has condemned in totality the recent removal of fuel subsidy by the federal government saying that, "this is total injustice to the masses. This is just a way of making life harder for the common man.

Tiamiyu stressed further, that "the removal of fuel subsidy would jeopardise the projects in the local governments.”

The first citizen of Ejigbo local government however advised the federal government to ensure that the refineries are repaired and made to work soonest.
