15 Arraigned For Allegedly Burning Phcn Office

Fifteen  persons have been arraigned before an Ibadan Chief Magistrates Court for allegedly setting ablaze the office  of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) in Ogbere, on the outskirts of Ibadan.

The Police Prosecutor, Cpl. Oriola James, said that the accused persons invaded  the PHCN  building on January 10,  during the protests that followed the removal of  subsidy on petrol.

James further stated that the accused persons attempted to commit arson as they tried to use petrol and used tyres to burn down the police station in Ogbere, Ibadan.

Chief Magistrate E. A.  Idowu, however, adjourned the case till January 31, to enable the court receive legal advice from the Director of  Public Prosecution, (DPP) while ordering  the remand of the accused in prison custody.
