The On Wheels magazine, is set to celebrate the founding pillars of automobile business in Nigeria, at this year’s Nigeria Auto Awards, slated for May.

The Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of On Wheels magazine, organisers of the award, Jabez Aina-Scott, said this year’s award ceremony was part of the highlights marking the fifth anniversary of Nigeria Auto Awards.

As part of the activities for the event, the organisers said they would pay homage to distinguished person-alities who in all aspects had contributed to the survival of auto sector in the country.

Aina-Scott said the contributions of the awardees to sales, product diversification, versatility, innovation, brand-building and after sales services would be examined.

Also at the occasion, he said the award advisory committee and the editorial board members of the On Wheels, would formally launch the On Wheels Foundation, which according to Aina-Scott, “had been giving back to the society quietly in the last one year.”

He recalled the foundation’s donations to the Spinal Cord Injury Association and the African Refugees’ Foundation.

Also speaking on the coming awards ceremony, the Editor of On Wheels magazine, Julie Chi-Nwaoha said there would also be the Blitz and Glamour segment at the evening of the awards presentation where amazons of the automobile sector in the country would be celebrated.

“These ‘women on wheels’ represent a category who have worked in the auto industry for more than five years, contributing immensely to its development.

“This year’s celebration will introduce a pre-award lecture where the topic: “Recalls in the auto industry: How far, how safe?” will be discussed,” Chi-Nwaoha  said.

According to her, the lecture was targeted at the consumers, who were at the receiving end and also government agencies who had the sole responsibility of ensuring safety at all times on the roads.
