Share

LAGOS State Government, on Friday, shut five oil companies for violating the state environmental law at Kirikiri Area of the metropolis.

The companies included Techno Oil, Fatgbems Oil, Bovas Oil, Index Petroleum and Swift Oil.

It also shut four other companies, which included Majen Rai Portland Cement, Jannock Nigeria Limited, Scolet Ventures Nigeria Limited and Cappa de Alberto for the same offence.

Led by the Head of the E-Waste Unit of the State Environmental Protection Agency, Mr. Kayode Bello, officials of the state Task force on Environment and Special Offences besieged the companies early Friday morning to enforce the closure order.

According to Bello, the oil companies and Majen Rai Portland Cement were shut because they fixed their tank in an area less than 200 metres away from residential place and operated tank farm without submission of Environmental Impact Assessment report to the agency.
