THE Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors from the Southeast geo-political zone on Friday stayed away from the 78th birthday ceremony of ex- Bifran leader, Chief Emeka Ojukwu even as the  wife of the ailing former warlord, Bianca prayed for the quick recovery of her husband.

Although Ojukwu was not physically present at his Enugu residence where the occasion was held, but it turned out to be a Mecca of sort for politicians in Igbo land.

Among the top dignitaries who graced the occasion were Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, Ex-governor Ikedi Ohakim, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, Senator Uche  Chukwumerije, Senator Chris Ngige, Senator Ben Obi, Chief Victor Umeh and  Eze Cletus Ilomuayana.

Lady Ojukwu, while speaking at the occasion at Casablanca Villa, Ojukwu’s residence at GRA, Enugu said she was was overwhelmed by the large turnout of people to commemorate the 78th birthday of her husband whom, she  said would soon return to the country, maintaining that he had been wishing to return  to his people whom he loved so much.

She stated that the large turnout of people has shown her that the Igbo loved her husband whom she calls ‘General’ so much and pointed out that as soon as she got back to London, she would tell him that his people loved him so much.
