AS the Nigeria’s U-17 Women team, the Flamingoes take on their counterparts from Kenya in the second leg of the African qualifier for the FIFA U-17 female World Cup today at the mainbowl of the MKO Abiola stadium, Abeokuta, the team’s head coach; Peter Dedevbo has assured of victory just as he said the Kenyans would not be underrated.

Speaking yesterday  with Saturday Tribunesports from the team’s Abeokuta camp, the coach who informed that the players were in high spirits for the match added that they had trained well for the match.

Flamingoes defeated the Kenya Under 17 women’s team 2 - 0 in the first leg penultimate week.

According to the coach, the players had trained so well and were battle ready to ensure a total victory over their opponents in order to confirm their superiority over the Kenyans.

“Though, we are in good form and right frame of mind, that does not mean we are going to underrate them because anything can happen in football and since we do not want to disappoint Nigerians, we are taking the match with all seriousness,” Dedevbo said.

Speaking in the same vein as the coach, Flamingoes player, Goodness Onyebuchi, said that the players would not disappoint Nigerians and, at the same time, called on Nigerians to troop out in large numbers to cheer them to victory.

“We need their support and as such, I am appealling to all Nigerians to come out and cheer us to victory,” she said.

Meanwhile, THE Nigerian U-17 Women’s National team, the Flamingoes have been advised to go for total victory when they clash with Kenya U-17 Women National team in the second leg of FIFA U-17 Women World Cup qualifying match in Abeokuta today.

Telecommunication giant, Globacom, in a press statement in Lagos advised the team to go for outright victory to boost their chances of qualifying for the next stage having won the first leg in Nairobi a fortnight ago.

"The Flamingoes must work hard to subdue the hard-fighting Kenyans in order to win the two legs and qualify for the next round," the statement added.

The Company also acknowledged and commended the determination of the team which resulted in their victory during the first leg, urging the team's technical crew to assemble the best eleven capable of making Nigeria proud.

The 2012 U-17 Women World cup comes up in Azerbaijan between September 22 and 13th 0ctober 13.
