SUPER Eagles forward, Ikechukwu Uche wants Nigerians to bank on him as the team confronts the Flames of Malawi today in a 2014 World Cup Group F qualifying match.

Countdown to the encounter billed for the Kamuzu Banda Stadium in Blantyre, the Malawian coach Kinnah Phiri and some of his players have been playing mind games, promising to beat the Nigerians in the game slated to start by 1.30pm Nigerian time.

However, Uche who scored the Eagles only goal in last weekend's match played in Calabar has allayed Nigerian fears, assuring that the Malawian Flames will be doused before their teeming fans today.

''We are not ignorant of the Malawians' threat, in as much as we are not ready to make unnecessary noise about the match, we are looking forward to winning the match. Personally, I want Nigerians to pray for us and bank on me for the goals that will kill them off,'' said the Grenada of Spain striker.

The Malawians are not taking the match for granted as coach Phiri is expected to line up a hit squad including defender and team captain Peter Mponda who will lead the strong cast of heavyweight returnees which include Harry Nyirenda, Robert Ng'ambi and Chiukepo Msowoya.

The Malawians who started the race on a good note, pulling a 0-0 draw against the Harambee Stars of Kenya last weekend are also banking on their home invincibility to cage the Eagles and turn them back empty-handed.

They will be all-out searching for their first victory over Nigeria since 1978.
